Not so long ago, Trump was on the black list of Belarusian propaganda, but after the call to Belarus, the situation began to change. One conversation with Washington became an argument for statements about Lukashenka’s “victory on the world arena,” and the attitude towards Trump softened. But real friendship remains only with China and Russia.
Inside the country, the situation is aggravating. The cult of personality is growing, the pressure on those who disagree with the official rhetoric is intensifying – people’s data is published on state TV, and their real estate is called for confiscation. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Belarus
- In July and August, there was a noticeable increase in laudatory rhetoric and praise for the “president,” the tone of which resembled the rhetoric of the era of Stalin’s cult of personality.
- The targets of information attacks were typically representatives of the Belarusian democratic forces, political emigrants, and Belarusians opposing the regime. In August, the ONT propaganda channel disseminated the personal data and addresses of participants in the Freedom Day rallies held in March 2025 in European cities.
- In August, Donald Trump unexpectedly called the Belarusian leader and said he expected the release of 1,300 political prisoners.
The West
- Propagandists cannot reach a consensus on Donald Trump’s personality and role in history. Most people no longer believe his promises.
- His call to Lukashenka is being presented in the Belarusian media as a major diplomatic victory for the regime on the international arena.
- Poland and the Baltic states remain among Belarus’s main enemies. The brunt of propaganda attacks is concentrated on these countries.
Ukraine
- The media of the Lukashenka regime continues to be full of aggressive accusations, lies, and insults towards Ukraine and its leadership.
- In August, a disinformation campaign was conducted against the political leadership of Ukraine, with the active participation of Russian special services and the “president” of Belarus.
China
- Official propaganda continues to justify and substantiate the country’s policy of rapprochement with China.
